Sweet Peg! ;-) x

Before her death in 2002 I was in contact with Peggy Appleby nee Plimmer who lived in Liverpool, who was daughter of Joe PLIMMER (d. 1967, Bangor, Wales?) and Maggy Finnesey (lived 5 Moira Street, Liverpool):

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1914
PLIMMER Joseph to FINNESEY Margaret C
West Derby, Register Office or Registrar Attended Liverpool
(Liverpool REG_WD/299/5)

she was grand-daughter of:
James PLIMMER & Jane Elizabeth WHITTON (“who was very austere, strict and the double of Queen Mary”)

from her letters I was able to compile the following:

she thought her grandfather died aged 40 and was originally from Astley in the Midlands (?)

she thought her grandmother’s maiden name was Witten or Pedlar and that she died aged 72 in the 1930s

her aunts and uncles listed as:

Jane Plimmer m. Lenny CASH – no off spring listed

her parents:
children – (herself, (Florence Margaret aka Peggy, b.1916) – her husband died in 1998) a brother, James Anthony aka Tony (lived in France or Spain) and a brother Edward Lawrence aka Ted (was a twin and lived in Newton-le-Willows for a spell)
(she states her father also married an Edith and an Ethel)

Florence m. Stretton GREY
child – Stretton died WW1 aged 18
(moved to Australia?)

James m. Florence BRIGGS
children – Florence (b.26 March 1910) married name GOODENOUGH, Olive (b.02 Feb 1912), Jean (b. 08 August 1921), Josephine (b. 06 June 1923)

Dora – husband not named
children – Billy, Ernie, Elsie, Freddy
(moved to Australia?)

Daisy m. Max BREXLEY
children – Sonny, Hilda, Alice, Molly
(moved to Australia?)

Kathleen (Kate) m. BOWKER?

Ernest m. Edith KAY

children – Ernie (missing WW2), Ronnie, Queenie
(also a partner Lily while wife still alive?)

Peggy said; “One of my Dad’s brothers had his partner change her name by deed poll and she had a couple of PLIMMERs”

William – went abroad in the 1920s and never heard from again

Looking for a podcast my Aunt Peg did and came across this article. James Anthony was my father and lived in Liverpool. His younger brother John ( twin of Edward) lived in France
